As someone with little practical experience in both sustainable investing and consulting, I have already gained a better understanding of the flows and hiccups involved in executing such a project. Coming from the humanities, I have been professionally challenged to think on my toes and learn flexibly about things I had not previously investigated.
While I look forward to honing my data communication skills and gaining a better understanding of impact measurement in the specific project I have been assigned to, the most important personal takeaway so far has been in the realm of client engagement. Not having conducted such informational interviews in a consulting context in the past, doing so in a team environment has sharpened my ability to ask the right questions in the short amount of time one shares with a client.
Additionally, probing around for the industry's best practices has inherently taught me a lot that I can apply both to my project and professional life.
From the disclosure of the potential clients to the first meeting, the course has offered much excitement and I appreciate how receptive the professor has been with our individual preferences and conflicts. I look forward to the weeks of trial and error to come.
