SIRI Practicum Clients Information

Partner with Columbia’s Sustainable Investing Research Initiative (SIRI) and benefit from a team of graduate students for a semester-long custom consulting project.

The SIRI Practicum is a graduate course (CEEN IA7799) offered at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. It connects global organizations with interdisciplinary graduate student teams from across Columbia’s campus to deliver evidence-based, actionable insights on sustainable investing and strategy. The SIRI Practicum includes sustainable investing projects from both the financial sector and the real economy (for-profit and non-profit organizations).

  • A dedicated consulting team of 4 graduate students bringing 250+ hours of research and analysis. The teaching team carefully matches the students with the projects in multi-disciplinary teams, such that student project preferences, career aspirations, work experience, team composition, project needs in terms of skills and expertise, and other factors are considered. Students are selected through a competitive application process. The student teams bring a diverse set of experiences and are equipped with strong professional and academic training in quantitative analysis; economic, energy, environmental, and social policy; corporate sustainability; impact measurement and management; impact and sustainability reporting; sustainable finance, impact investing, and blended finance; and much more.
     
  • Expert guidance, advising, and mentoring from SIRI faculty.
     
  • Strategic recommendations grounded in multi-disciplinary sustainability research, economic and financial analysis, and policy expertise.

The SIRI Practicum is led by Dr. C. Sara Minard (Adjunct Professor of International and Public Affairs and The Brandmeyer Fellow for Impact and Sustainable Investing) and co-instructor Matthew Rusk (Adjunct Assistant Professor of International and Public Affairs).
