Regenerative Systems VC Internship Program
Columbia SIPA's Sustainable Investing Research Initiative (SIRI) is partnering with Regeneration.VC to launch a new summer internship program that connects top graduate student talent from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and other Columbia graduate programs with leading VC investors and portfolio companies.
About SIRI:
The Sustainable Investing Research Initiative (SIRI) serves as a hub for education, research, and dialogue on system-level investing. As part of this mission, SIRI offers curricular programming as well as various extra-curricular activities and career development opportunities (including the SIRI Career Series, SIRI Panel Series, SIRI Skill Development Workshops, SIRI Career Fair, and more). With this internship program, we are taking these efforts a step further and provide graduate students with valuable hands-on internship experiences.
About the Internship Program:
This internship program is designed around sustainable investing and planetary boundaries, allowing Columbia graduate students to gain valuable practical insights into the VC world and to apply their academic learning to real-world investing.
Participating funds will be able to work with highly motivated, talented, and well-trained graduate students who are deeply passionate about sustainable investing and have a strong academic foundation in the field. This internship program offers a unique opportunity to enhance your team’s capacity and a chance to bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas. Our students are eager to contribute to your team’s goals, providing valuable support in advancing your impact-focused strategies.
The lines of work we identified for this internship program are:
- Dealflow and due diligence
- Portfolio monitoring and management (including impact measurement, management and reporting)
- Thought leadership and research
- Operational roles at portfolio companies
These are general guidelines. If you have specific needs or projects you’re looking to carry forward during the summer (and beyond) please let us know, so we can adjust the student selection to your needs.
All students will be graduate students with course work in the broader field of sustainable investing. The terms of the internship are as follows:
- Ideally in person but remote/hybrid is also welcomed
- Internship can be paid or unpaid
Depending on your needs, if you have interest in hiring full-time and using the internship as a trial period, let us know so we can help you find students with graduation dates that best match your timeline.
If you are a VC (or portfolio company) interested in recruiting students for an internship, please register by February 15, 2025 using this interest form and we will be in touch with next steps.
If you participate, you will receive a few applications for review following a thorough screening, matching and vetting process performed by SIRI with Regeneration.VC's support. You can interview and select 1 to 2 students, or also opt out if the students don’t match your requirements. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to [email protected].
If you are a CU graduate student, register your interest using this form (application details to follow).
