I'm excited to be part of this project that explores the complex world of healthcare regulations. Our research is guided by the goals our clients have set, and we're on a mission to make a real difference in this area. At first, our research focused on two main objectives: increasing transparency by systematically collecting information and identifying best practices to push legislative progress forward. But after having in-depth conversations with our client, we've decided to prioritize the best practices objective. We believe that by focusing our efforts here, we have the potential to spark meaningful legislative changes.

However, here’s where we had a bit of an eye-opener: all this time, we’ve been gathering laws from different states and piling up information without seeing the bigger picture. We missed considering the environment where these laws grow and didn't connect the dots to find common trends. Now, we realize we need to change our approach. We need to look deeper into the stories behind these laws and find what they have in common. Our enhanced focus now encompasses a thorough understanding of the legislative context, an exploration of general traits across statutes, and the crafting of a coherent narrative that ties our findings together.

So, our new goal is not just about listing out best practices nationwide of any state. It’s about understanding the whole story, finding the patterns, and making sense of it all. This new direction is a response to constructive critiques received from academic peers and classroom discussions as well as the office hour with professor, which pointed out the absence of a cohesive storyline in our approach and underscored the necessity for an integrated analysis of the regulatory and statutory landscapes, including an exploration of their common traits.

Expanding our research means we need to learn from more sources. Thus, we find it helpful to get the insights of corporate law professors from our law and business schools. Their perspectives and experiences are expected to significantly enhance our narrative and contribute to a more comprehension of this subject matter.

Reflecting on this part of our journey, I see how important it is to have clear, focused research that tells a story. This new clarity makes me realize the power of working together and looking at things from all angles. Talking to our clients and getting feedback has shown us there’s a bigger goal beyond just collecting data. We want to help change and improve how society is governed. This is motivating me as we move forward with clearer and more detailed plans for our research. This part of our project shows how crucial it is to keep talking and sharing ideas with everyone involved.

I’m really excited about working with experts in this area. Together, we hope to find new ways to change healthcare laws for the better. It’s not just about studying; it’s about making real changes based on a good understanding of the whole picture.
