Having previously worked with well-established international corporations such as KPMG, Mazars, and Veon, where structured procedures, clear mission statements, easily accessible data, and extensive operational histories were the norm, transitioning to working on project: the new family-owned company, a venture founded in 2019, has proved to be a markedly different experience. Following the initial call and meeting with the client, several challenges in undertaking this project became apparent: 1. Limited Data Availability: The company, being a relatively new one, lacks extensive historical data. Unlike my previous experiences where data was abundant and readily accessible, the company’s limited data set poses a challenge in analyzing trends and making informed decisions. 2. Undefined Project Scope: The team is still working to narrow the scope. The head of the company expects consultation on a broad spectrum of financial and operational matters. Our group is working with the Client to agree on the final scope of work. 3. Navigating an Unfamiliar Market: the Company operates in a market unfamiliar to me, coming from completely different region of Central Asia. Understanding the nuances of this specific industry and its consumer base requires thorough research and adaptability. 4. Lack of Policies and Procedures: Unlike the well-structured internal policies typical of larger companies, the Company lacks established policies and procedures. Our group highlighted the importance of having the established guidelines. 5. Family-owned business nature: Family-owned businesses often involve intricate family dynamics that influence decision-making. Understanding and navigating these dynamics while providing professional advice is essential to maintain a harmonious working relationship. However, despite these challenges I am overwhelmingly excited to contribute to the growth of the enterprise, and I believe that our team can make a tangible impact to the growth of the company which is both exciting and rewarding.
