While I’m writing this reflection, we are in the early stages of our consulting project. We are a small consulting group of three people from different parts of the world. The most enjoyable experience for me has been working with my teammates, learning about their cultures, and approaching the problem from different perspectives. I think being flexible and open-minded has helped us build strong working relationships and achieve a common goal. Also, viewing our consulting experience in this course as a learning process has been helpful. As consultants, we are not necessarily experts on topics that we are working on; however, the willingness to learn and gain new skills helps build confidence and tackle problems effectively. The key skill that the course has allowed me to practice has been my communication skills. Active listening and negotiating with my team members and the client to understand the client’s needs, define the project’s scope, identify key deliverables, and establish a timeline for completion has been important for me to improve my communication skills.
