The SIRI Career Series invites industry experts from across the sustainable investing space as speakers. The sessions include a moderated discussion followed by Q&As and networking. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about various career paths and to network with current and future professionals in sustainable investing! The series is led by Alecia Hill, SIPA alum and SIRI Young Leaders Fellow.

This session will feature Lafayette Square Institute.

Speaker:

David Williams, Director of Real Estate, Impact and Partnerships, Lafayette Square Institute

David previously served as Director of Policy Outreach at Opportunity Insights, a Harvard-based research and policy lab focused on improving upward mobility through data-driven solutions. In that role, he led partnerships with communities nationwide, including initiatives like Creating Moves to Opportunity, a national housing mobility program, and a regional economic opportunity effort in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He served as a senior advisor to the Mayor of Detroit, where he managed large-scale real estate and community revitalization projects, neighborhood planning, and policies promoting economic mobility and equitable development. He has also worked as an affordable housing and community development attorney and as a nonprofit management consultant. David earned his AB from Harvard College and JD from Harvard Law School, where he served as President of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau.

He currently serves on the boards of Up for Growth and Strive Together, is a non-resident fellow at the Urban Institute, and advises High Opportunity Neighborhood Partners, a real estate firm dedicated to breaking cycles of poverty by providing homes to low-income families in high-opportunity neighborhoods.
